Gilbert Cross Country and Track & Field Scholarship

Deb Anderson was a dedicated teacher and coach for 34 years at Gilbert. Teaching PE was very rewarding, but coaching Cross Country and Track & field were her true passion.  She would like to award two $250 scholarships to two senior athletes who have competed for all 4 years in high school Cross Country AND Track & Field.

Gilbert Athletic Boosters Club Scholarship

The Athletic Club awards four $1000 scholarships annually to graduating athletes, managers or cheerleaders.

Tiger Strength Scholarship

The Tiger Strength program awards two $250 scholarships annually to one female and one male graduating athletes or two qualified athletes.

Eligibility: The graduating student must have participated in at least one sport for two consecutive years during his/her high school career. The participant must have demonstrated:

Individual Effort

Commitment to Tiger Strength program

Leadership to younger athletes

Good character in activities outside of their participating sports

Iowa Section Professional Golfer’s Association

The Iowa PGA Foundation offers an annual scholarship opportunity in memory of Charlie Burkart.  The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students in furthering their education.  It is open to any graduating high school senior or previous graduate residing within the Iowa PGA Section or the state of Iowa.

The Iowa PGA Section annually awards a college scholarship in memory of Iowa Golf Hall of Famer, Charlie Burkart, PGA member
for 49 years and head professional at the Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids for 42 years. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist
students in furthering their education. At least one high school graduate will be the 2021 recipient of $1500 per year for four years.
Other previously graduated applicants will be reviewed with additional scholarships awarded when possible, for one year $1,000
scholarship.

Coach Steve Lynn Memorial Foundation

*Now accepting applications for graduating 2018 Iowa high school seniors.

The Coach Lynn Memorial Scholarship will reward one boy and one girl $1000 to put towards their college expenses. If you feel as though you have worked hard on and off the athletic field to prove that you have what it takes to become successful, this scholarship is for you. Coach Lynn believed in kids. He’d believe in you!

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Must be a graduating senior from a Iowa high school
  • Must have participated in track and field
  • Must be planning to compete in athletics in college
  • Must display perseverance, sportsmanship, and good citizenship
  • Must be academically eligible to attend a two or four year college/university.
  • Must provide evidence of leadership both in sports and in school and community.
  • Must provide 3 one-page letters of reference. One letter must be from a coach.
