Welcome to the Gilbert Community School District!

My name is Dr. Christine Trujillo, and I am the proud Superintendent of this incredible district. We are thrilled to have you and your family join us as part of our community. Our district’s vision is “Every Student, Every Day,” and we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience for all students. Our dedicated staff members inspire greatness in everything they do, ensuring each student is supported, challenged, and nurtured to grow both academically, socially, and through leadership.

Growing up in Northwest Iowa, I learned the importance of relationships and connections within a small, neighboring community. Those connections bring people together and make a community stronger. It is from those foundations that have helped me and my family call Gilbert home. After 35 years in public education, I have seen the ups and downs of teaching and learning. Those past experiences allow me to say Gilbert CSD is truly a bright, shining light of the best of the best. Our students have big dreams, work hard, and are there for each other. Our staff is willing to do what is needed to come together for our students and our community, and our community stands with us to provide the support we need to provide a world-class education.

Our district believes in providing students and staff with the essential habits of learning and leadership as a strong foundation. An important part of the process is the belief in the power of student voice. We are committed to cultivating leadership for tomorrow and today, encouraging students to become active, engaged members of our school and the wider community. We are proud to work and learn alongside our community, fostering connections that benefit all.

Our district is a special place, and we’re confident you and your children will experience that first-hand as you embark on this journey with us. Come for a visit and enjoy your time here. If you see me out and about, stop and say Hi and introduce yourself so I can put a face with a name. But for now, enjoy our website, which only begins to tell our story. Our district is special because of the students, families, and staff who are all proud Tigers. So Go Tigers and remember, “Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.”

Did You Know?

  • Gilbert has a rich history that date back to 1918 with our first graduate. We have members in our community that remember the good old days of Gilbert, and we have third and fourth generations of families attending Gilbert. That alone makes Gilbert unique and one of a kind.
  • A part of my job is to peek inside classrooms to see our staff in action. I get the chance to see students learning about animal science with a horse in the classroom or learning how to harvest honey from bees. I see students in reading groups learning the science of reading with their peers and students being challenged by answering higher-level questions in seminars. I have observed students being stretched with essential facts in history or a science experiment filled with predictions. Our bus drivers… nutrition…associates…
