Gilbert Hires Director of Community Engagement

The Gilbert Community School District is happy to announce that Troy Banning has accepted
the position of Director of Community Engagement for the 2022-23 school year. Banning joins
the Gilbert family after serving as the sports editor at The Daily Freeman-Journal in Webster
City for 22 years. He and his wife, Kelly, are 20-year residents of Ames and have two
daughters, Taylor and Brooklyn, who attend Gilbert. It is our pleasure to welcome Mr. Banning

Mr. Bob has been a mentor for Jack since elementary school. He has been dependable, meaningful, and influential to the young students at Gilbert. As a mentor, he’s been able to share his wisdom and show how much he cares for our students. Bob and Jack crafted name signs for various staff members; thank you for being such an active member of the Gilbert family!

Gilbert Hires New Activities Director

Gilbert Schools is excited to share the hiring of new Activities Director for the 2022-2023 school year, Mr. Ian Smith. Ian is replacing Mr. Tim Pezzetti, current Athletic Director at Gilbert Schools who resigned his position earlier this month after accepting a position in Missouri, closer to his family.

Special Vistor!

This week we had a very special visitor at the intermediate school. Cy came to visit us during milage club. The students were so excited to take their picture with Cy and he even ran some laps with the kids.

Milage club is a program sponsored by Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. It is meant to promote healthy living. 3 days a week students have the option to participate in Milage Club and for every 5 miles they record, they get a prize.Click here to read more about milage club!
